Warm Weather Outlook Helps Natural Gas Prices

Natural gas prices fell below the two dollar mark for the first time since April of 2016. This should not come as a surprise as last weekend the Northeast experienced it’s warmest winter weekend since 1872.

Boston hit a high of 74 degrees on January 12th, which is the highest January temperature record since 1950. Furthermore, three major weather models that predicting a blast of cold weather have shifted towards a moderate January and February. As temperatures continue to average five degrees above normal and heat demand remains flat, gas continues to stockpile.

The warmer than average temperatures could lead to further natural gas price declines. For more information on the future of the market, contact one of our advisors or our research desk at researchdesk@atlasrtailenergy.com.
